Dear Girls Anthem Family,
I wanted to take a moment to give you an update—and honestly, this update is also a little testimony about what happens when we trust God even when we don’t know how everything is going to come together.
A little while ago, I shared that I was working toward attending the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) Annual Conference and asked for support with my registration. Because of your generosity, my conference registration is now completely covered. Thank you to everyone who gave and believed in what Girls Anthem is building. Your support helped make this possible, and I don’t take that lightly.
But God did something else that I hadn’t even shared with you.
I applied to the Women of Color Empowered (WE) in Sport Leadership Institute (WE Lead) through AASP.
And if I’m being completely honest, I was afraid I wouldn’t get in.
WE Lead is designed for advanced-level graduate students and early-career professional women of color in sport and performance psychology. The opportunity brings together women to learn from pioneering women of color leaders, develop strategies for navigating careers in the field, and address the unique challenges women of color face as they advance professionally.
When I looked at the experience of some of the women already doing this work, I wondered if I had enough years behind me to belong in that room.
But I applied anyway.
And God said yes.
I was accepted into WE Lead.
So now, not only is my AASP conference registration covered, but my Airbnb is booked, and I am preparing to walk into a room I wasn’t sure I would ever be invited into.
And that is the ministry moment I want to leave with you:
Sometimes we disqualify ourselves because we don’t think we have enough experience, enough connections, enough credentials, or enough history.
But God isn’t limited by what we think we’re missing.
Your responsibility is obedience. The outcome belongs to God.
I had to apply before I knew I would be accepted. I had to believe before I had the answer. And I had to be willing to walk through the door if God opened it.
So thank you for helping me take the first step toward that door.
I don’t know everything God is going to do through this opportunity, but I know I’m going there with an open heart, ready to learn, connect, serve, and represent Girls Anthem well.
And I’m believing that this is only the beginning.

Keep pursuing what God has placed in you—even when you don’t feel qualified yet.
Sometimes the door opens because God already knows what He’s going to do with you on the other side.
I will keep you posted, but for now, I’ll be in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in October. Can’t wait to send pictures!
