Day 5: When Closure Is Really a Test — Protect Your Peace 🛡️
Soulful Summer: 5 Days of Faith, Fiction & Real Love
Hey Queens of Purpose,
You’ve journeyed through five powerful days of faith, fiction, and real love — thank you for joining us for Soulful Summer!
Today, we meet Jezzy Watson, a woman whose success and independence mask a heart still wrestling with past pain and broken promises. Her story reminds us that sometimes, the hardest love lessons come not when we’re opening our hearts, but when we’re asked to close a chapter, or fiercely guard the one we’re writing.
When Closure Is Really a Test
Scripture:
“Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established.” — Proverbs 4:26
Reflection:
Jezzy was on top of her game—recognized, respected, and engaged to a man she loved. But when Trent, her high school sweetheart and first love, unexpectedly re-enters her life, old wounds and unresolved feelings rise to the surface.
Closure is rarely a neat bow on a painful past. It’s often messy and complicated, especially when the person who once broke your heart now seeks forgiveness or another chance. Jezzy’s struggle isn’t just about an old flame showing up; it’s about recognizing what she truly needs—peace, wisdom, and the courage to protect her emotional well-being.
Sometimes, God uses these moments to teach us that healing isn’t about reopening old doors, but about building new foundations. We’re called to let go of what no longer serves God’s best for us, even when it means standing firm against nostalgia, guilt, or fear.
True closure comes when we invite God’s wisdom to establish our steps and protect the progress we’ve made. Jezzy’s story is a reminder that your peace and purpose are worth guarding fiercely—and that God’s grace always equips us to do so.
Journal Prompt:
Is there a person, memory, or situation I’m holding onto that keeps me from fully stepping into God’s peace? How can I ask God to help me establish healthy boundaries and truly move forward?
Prayer:
Lord, I’m grateful for the healing You’ve begun in my heart. Give me the courage to release what hinders my peace and the wisdom to walk firmly on the path You’ve set before me. Help me trust that Your plans for me are good, even when it means saying no to what once was. Amen.
